International Behavior Therapist (IBT) Training Program

Introduction:

We are an Approved Content Provider (ACP) for the International Behavior Therapist (IBT) training / Required Educational Objectives (REOs). Our training program is designed to equip behavior therapists with the knowledge and skills needed to provide high-quality ABA services. Through comprehensive modules and real-world applications, participants will gain the expertise necessary to excel in the field of behavior analysis.

What is IBT Certification?

The International Behavior Therapist (IBT) certification is a globally recognized credential for behavior therapists, emphasizing the ethical application of ABA principles across diverse settings. As an ACP, we offer IBAO-approved training that ensures our participants meet the industry standards for professional competence and ethical practice.

How to Become an International Behavior Therapist® (IBT®):

1. Register with the International Behavior Analysis Organization (IBAO): Begin by registering as an IBT® candidate on the IBAO website. Upon registration, you will receive your own account on the IBAO platform. This account will serve as your central hub for tracking your progress, uploading certificates, and accessing resources.

2. Complete Required Educational Objectives (REOs): Complete 40 hours of Required Educational Objectives (REOs), covering key ABA topics. These hours can be completed either before or after registration. Once you've completed the REOs, upload your certificates to your IBAO account to keep your profile updated.

3. Engage in Supervised Practice: Accumulate 300 hours of supervised practice. This hands-on experience allows you to apply ABA principles in real-world settings. You can complete up to 30 hours per week, with at least one hour of supervision per week. Supervision can be direct or indirect and must be overseen by a certified International Behavior Analyst (IBA).

4. Earn Continuing Education Units (CEUs): Earn a total of 4 CEUs as part of your certification requirements, distributed as follows:

  • 2 CEUs in ABA topics
  • 1 CEU in cultural competence
  • 1 CEU in ethics
  • CEUs can be earned before or after your registration. All certificates can be uploaded to your IBAO account for record-keeping.

5. Pass the IBT® Examination: After completing your REOs and supervised practice, you will take the IBT® exam through your IBAO account. The exam will assess your knowledge and application of behavior analytic principles. Successful completion of this exam is required for certification.

6. Continue Supervision Post-Exam: After passing the IBT® exam, you are required to work under the supervision of an IBA. This ensures continued professional development and adherence to best practices in behavior analysis.

Additional Information:

  • Your IBAO account will store all your certificates and details related to your training and supervision. This centralized system ensures that you can easily track your progress and upload documents at any time.
  • Registration with IBAO is mandatory before starting supervised practice hours, and all supervision must be documented through your IBAO account.
  • By following these steps and utilizing your IBAO account, you will be well-prepared to become a certified International Behavior Therapist. This credential will enhance your professional skills and enable you to make a significant impact in the field of behavior analysis.
